Hello! 

I'm Hilary and together with my other half, Steve, we founded Wightcat Crafts nearly 20 years ago.  I have been teaching Crafts, Parchment Craft and designing lessons and patterns ever since.

I am a Qualified Teacher of Further Education and Registered Pergamano Tutor.  After falling and seriously damaging by back I was made redundant from my teaching post in the local College so this is how we came to setting up our Crafting Business.  I have always been in Crafting, previously I had my own school of Cake Decorating and taught cake decoration along with making all kinds of celebration and wedding cakes. So, as you can tell, crafting is in my blood and I have lots of experience in the Craft world and Designing. I have also been published in various magazines, including Stamping, Simply Cards, Making Cards & Parchment Craft Magazine. Crafting is, and always has been my therapy; this creative activity keeps me centred in mind and body.

This is how some of my students have described Parchment Craft:

• Parchment Craft is an Art Form, it uses skill, imagination and has so many techniques to master. It has many levels and many different angles. 
• It helps us learn life skills along the way like patience, creativity, and to take time for ourselves to learn and relax
• Parchment craft is a creative place I can hide in when things are tough, it's a way I can express how I feel in the pieces I make for people I care about, it's a way I can express my creativity. Even after all these years I'm still learning and get the thrill of achieving. So it is art, it is a craft and for me it's therapy.
